6.35mm adapter for Zoom G3X

Hi All,
Need some troubleshooting advice.
On my zoom g3x I am connecting my standard headphones for some light practice via a 6.35 mm audio adapter.
However, the problem is when I push the 6.35mm adapter(to which my 3.5mm headphone is attached) all the way in the headphone socket on the Zoom(the one marked with the headphone symbol) I get a very low sound or none at head.
When I only insert the adapter half of the way in , I can get good clear sound in my headphones. However, this leads for the connection to be loose and it gets unplugged time and again
The adapter that I have is 6.35mm Stereo Plug to 3.5mm Stereo Socket. ( http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/635mm-gold-st ... pter-n89an )
Any advice would be greatly appreciated on how to fix this.
Cheers
